Alpha Energy and Tennor Global create Alpha Energy International
Alpha Energy, Houston, Texas, and Tennor Global LLC, Miami, Florida create Alpha Energy International with a $500 million funding commitment to pursue global conventional oil and energy opportunities.
Alpha Energy, the Houston, Texas based American Oil & Gas Upstream company, specializes in conventional reservoir development and operations with a thirty-year history of operations in over sixty fields primarily on the United States Gulf Coast and shallow-water shelf of the Gulf of America. Its principals have also operated at scale outside the United States in the CIS, Europe and Africa, while its COO spent more than a decade in Venezuela, including operatorship of a producing joint venture on Lake Maracaibo at over 100,000 barrels of oil per day.
Alpha Energy has created Alpha Energy International to leverage its unique expertise and capabilities for an international expansion and investment program in selected target countries including Venezuela. Alpha Energy International will be responsible for all future activities and investments of Alpha Energy outside of the USA.
The leadership team of Alpha Energy will be responsible for developing the international assets and running the operations. Tennor Global LLC as the majority shareholder of Alpha Energy International will actively support Alpha Energy International through its established global network of relationships in the target countries of Alpha Energy International. Tennor has arranged a $500 million funding facility for Alpha Energy International, and the venture is therefore able to seize new opportunities quickly.
Thomas Reed runs Alpha Energy International from Houston, Texas as its CEO. He has 30 years of Oil and Gas company experience with Alpha, Yukos, RusPetro, JKX and Texas Petroleum Investment Company.
Christophe Gerard, the COO of Alpha Energy International has 35 years experience in operations with, among others, Yukos, Gazprom and most recently with a joint venture producing 100,000 barrels of oil in Venezuela. He is joining Alpha Energy International from Ad Terra where he was director for Europe, Africa and Central Asia.
Chris Hopkinson, the CTO of Alpha Energy International, has 38 years of experience in the upstream business with senior positions in Shell, Yukos, BG Group and KazMunayGas among others.
All three principals built the company’s proprietary Alpha Technical Center on the basis of their experience at Yukos, the largest brownfield turnaround in history. The Alpha Technical Center covers subsurface evaluation, reservoir engineering, well design and facilities design, using the same performance engineering techniques that enabled the Yukos turnaround, which added nearly one million barrels per day of production in four years with a net reduction in total well count. An unprecedented production enhancement success at scale.
The focus of the company initially lies with mature producing fields and difficult to recover reserves. Alpha Energy International will recover production by optimizing asset performance from the wells up using a value driven technical limit approach and the application of appropriate current technologies. We work alongside the national energy company, and we train and hand over to local engineers as we go.
Thomas Reed, CEO of Alpha Energy International and founder of Alpha Energy said:
“We are pleased to announce the agreement reached with Tennor Global. The combination of Alpha’s technical and operating expertise, together with Tennor’s financial support and deep knowledge of key international markets provides a basis for a new type of international oil company.
Our strategy is simple- More oil remains in existing conventional fields than has ever been produced. And since the late 1980’s, improvements in technology and engineering have added more barrels of oil to world reserves from existing fields than has been found by all of the industry’s total greenfield exploration success. Alpha is on a mission to acquire and modernize these legacy fields.
Better recovery of the world’s existing oil and gas resources is Alpha’s fundamental value proposition, and with Tennor we have the reach and resources to act.”
Thomas Reed, CEO, Alpha Energy International
